AMD Releases Latest Version of AMD Software Adrenalin Drivers

AMD has recently launched version 24.1.1 WHQL of their AMD Software Adrenalin drivers. This update brings significant improvements, including support for the new AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT graphics card and day one support for the games Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth and TEKKEN 8. Additionally, the update introduces AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF), which can boost FPS by up to 97% in DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 games. The new drivers also include AMD Video Upscaling, various video enhancements, the AMD Smart Technology Tab, AMD Assistant, and additional OS feature support. Several bug fixes have also been implemented.

AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF)

AFMF is a feature that enhances performance by adding frame generation technology to AMD Radeon 700M, RX 6000, and RX 7000 series graphics cards for both desktop and notebook versions. It dynamically disables frame generation during fast visual motion to preserve image quality. With AFMF enabled and FSR 2 set at Quality Mode, the Radeon RX 7600 XT graphics card can achieve an average performance increase of up to 97% at 1080p resolution and up to 103% at 1440p resolution in select titles.

AMD Video Upscaling

AMD Video Upscaling is an advanced video algorithm that improves the image quality of video playback on Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs. It can be enabled in the Graphics tab and used in applications like Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Media Player, with support for resolutions up to 4K. Other video improvements include Content Adaptive Machine Learning (CAML) text detection for up to 4K gaming and optimizations for encoding support with AVC, HEVC, and AV1 codecs to enhance video quality.

AMD Smart Technology Tab

The AMD Smart Technology Tab consolidates various features into one convenient location, allowing users to maximize the capabilities of their AMD-powered systems.

AMD Assistant

AMD Assistant automatically enables or disables AMD Software features based on different situations to optimize performance or battery life.

Additional OS Feature Support

The update also includes support for Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling for Radeon RX 7600 series GPUs on Windows 11 version 22H2 and newer.

Fixed Issues

The latest drivers address several bug fixes, including black smoke artifacts in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, black texture flickering in Starfield on certain AMD graphics cards, an issue with graphics API metrics in certain UWP applications, intermittent gray screen after driver upgrade with certain monitors, performance drop in some DirectML workloads, and more.

Known Issues

There are also some known issues that AMD is working to resolve, such as extended loading times in Deathloop, application crashes in Dead Space after enabling RTAO, excessive stuttering in Overwatch 2, audio sync issues when recording with AV1 codec, green tint display on Oculus Rift S with AMD Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs, Parsec host application crashes after system reboot on certain AMD graphics products, and intermittent looped footage display during Microsoft Teams meetings on certain AMD products.
