Unannounced AMD Threadripper 9000 "Shimada Peak" Processor SKUs Leak
Leaked shipping manifests have once again revealed the existence of AMD Threadripper 9000 "Shimada Peak" processors. Last summer, a 96-core variant was discovered under similar circumstances. The latest findings, uncovered by investigator Everest/Olrak_29 through information on NBD, show a Zen 5-based product stack with 16, 32, 64, and 96-core models. Previous leaks had only mentioned 16-core and 96-core parts, so the addition of 32-core and 64-core SKUs is a new development.
Although AMD has not officially confirmed the development of a successor to its Zen 4-equipped Threadripper 7000 "Storm Peak" CPU series, leaked core counts and specifications suggest that "Shimada Peak" could be the next logical step. Rumors indicate that all Threadripper 9000 HEDT processors will have a TDP rating of 350 W. The highest-end variant, expected to have 96 cores and 192 threads, is rumored to contain 12 CCDs with eight cores per CCD, 32 MB L3 cache, and a single I/O die. The 32-core model is speculated to have four CCDs, while the 64-core variant may come with eight CCDs. Industry insiders suggest a potential launch window for "Shimada Peak" in late 2025.
