Gigabyte Unveils TRX50 AI TOP Motherboard

During Computex last week, Gigabyte showcased their latest TRX50 AI TOP motherboard, specifically designed for AMD's Threadripper and Threadripper Pro CPUs. The "TOP" in the name stands for trillions of operations per second, highlighting the board's impressive performance capabilities.

The TRX50 AI TOP comes loaded with a plethora of features. It is an E-ATX board with four PCIe x16 slots, all capable of operating in PCIe 5.0. However, one slot can be limited to PCIe 4.0 depending on the CPU used. Additionally, there are four NVMe M.2 slots, each with CPU-dependent functionality.

Other notable features include eight DIMM slots, two 10 Gbps Ethernet interfaces powered by Marvell AQtion AQC113C controllers, WiFi 7 support via a Qualcomm QCNCM865 module, and dual audio chips for rear and front panel audio.

USB4 support is included in this 2024 model, with one of the two USB4 ports supporting DP Alt-mode due to hardware limitations. The board also features an internal USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 header for a case-mounted USB-C port, six rear 5 Gbps USB Type-A ports, and internal headers for additional USB Type-A ports.

Additional features of the TRX50 AI TOP motherboard include four SATA ports, a 16+8+4 power phase design, a 14-layer PCB, a debug display, and easy release mechanisms for M.2 drive heatsinks and graphics cards. Gigabyte has also introduced "UC BIOS" with a user-centered intuitive UX and Quick Access function, although specifics on this new BIOS are currently unavailable.

Pricing details for the TRX50 AI TOP motherboard have not been disclosed at this time.
